A network of cultural organisations

What is DISCO?

DISCO is a network of cultural organisations advocating for the unique importance of independent media to culture, society and democracy.

Together we are imagining a new, collaborative ecosystem for the creation and distribution of independent storytelling. A system that is decolonised, that values pluralism and is independent of state or corporate interests. A system that encourages uninhibited creative expression and exploration of ideas. A system that is accessible by all citizens, no matter where or how they live.

To deepen relationships

In DISCO we can deepen solidarity and develop trusted relationships amongst peer cultural organisers. We share everything we learn and invite radical collaboration with organisations from around the world and across civil society.

To have more influence

Acting as a global network, we ensure greater representation of global majority perspectives at decision making tables

To have better ideas

By sharing good ideas + intelligence from each of our regions we make smarter decisions for our own organisations as well as having a clearer assessment of the field.

To get access to more resources

Acting as a global network, we can have access to more kinds of funding, resources and partnerships

To execute exciting projects

Together we design and co-create interventions that address fundamental issues, from changing funding flows to testing new models of distribution.

DISCO members work in over 80 countries across Central and South America, the USA + Europe, Africa, the Arab speaking regions, South and SouthEast Asia. Directly supporting thousands of independent filmmakers, regranting funds, hosting leading festivals and markets in each region as well as providing world class training and mentorship.
